Single sign on created for NHS smartcardsFriday 14th March 2008 NHS smartcard users at the Mayday Healthcare Trust will soon be able to sign on to all IT applications using a single card and pin number. It is hoped that the single sign on solution, developed by Imprivata OneSign, will improve clinical efficiency, security and accountability. The smartcards will give Mayday's 2,000 users access to applications that require specific authorisation, entry to car parks, doors and cashless vending. Mike Nesley, managing director at Enline, said: "NHS trusts are keen to realise the true potential of the smartcards they have been issued. "But currently many are unaware that their smartcards, when used as part of an effective IAM solution, can fulfil a very large variety of uses. "An effective IAM solution unlocks the potential of these cards, and the benefits to an NHS Trust are substantial and immediate." Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust Feedback Have YOUR say on any of the issues raised by smartcards. (You must supply your name, email address and location.
