Printed Electronics Europe announces awards

LG Displays was awarded Technical Development Device Award Winner at the IDTechEx Printed Electronics Europe 2008 Awards dinner this month.

More than 600 delegates from 28 countries were present at the Awards evening in Dresden, tipped as the industry’s largest event in this area.

LG Display’s winning device was a high resolution and flexible colour e-paper display that uses electronic ink on stainless steel to produce colour images.

Hewlett Packard and PowerFilm Solar were awarded the Technical Development Manufacturing Award with self-aligned imprint lithography while Ciba scooped the award for Technical Development in Materials.

Wolfgang Mildner, CEO of PolyIC, was awarded the Printed Electronics Europe Champion Award, which recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry.

Mildner said: “It is a great pleasure and a privilege to receive the IDTechEx award for PolyIC’s product and for myself.

“This industry is in an exciting phase of development from the lab to production, where we experience fruitful collaboration between enthusiastic people and companies.”

The next Printed Electronic Awards ceremony will take place in San Jose, USA, this December 2008.
