Content-search platform aims to boost researchMonday 29th October 2007 A platform designed to boost electronic content searches was launched today. OvidSP was released by Ovid, a firm that develops and delivers customisable electronic research information for the medical, healthcare and academic markets. Ovid is part of Dutch-based Wolters Kluwer. OvidSP follows on from two existing platforms, Ovid Web Gateway and SilverPlatter WEBSPIRS, and is designed to make searching high-quality scholarly and professional content faster, simpler and more efficient for users at different levels of proficiency. Karen Abramson, president and CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health Medical Research, said the platform combined elements of Ovid's precision search technology with a new search interface and new functionality. The platform is designed to streamline the search and discovery process with a simple, intuitive interface, powerful precision search technology and time-saving user workflow tools. It enables medical, academic and corporate users to search publishers' scholarly and scientific content and find relevant information from peer-reviewed journals, medical textbooks, bibliographic databases or all three. New functionality includes multiple search modes, natural language searching, intuitive interface design, simultaneous searching across all content types and improved results display.
