The ability for organisations to maximise productivity and to have real-time data information is more critical than ever, believes David Krebs, Director of Mobile & Wireless for Venture Data Corporation.

"The rugged handheld computer market reached $2.3 billion [€1.7bn] and is expected to exceed $3.5 billion [€2.5bn] by 2014 according to our most recent research," he said.

"In today's economy, best-in-class organizations are equipping their increasingly mobile frontline workers with mobile solutions to enable real-time decision making and transaction processing at the point of interaction.

"For many mission-critical workflows – such as in retail, logistics and field service – these capabilities are being delivered via devices such as Catchwell's CW20".

The CW20 Series is a device particularly suited by its IP65 rating for applications in challenging operating environments.

Based around an 806MHz platform, the CW20 is supplied with built-in, high-speed WLAN, using 802.11b/g complete with industry-standard encryption and authentication security capability.

The four-radios-in-one design also features Bluetooth(R), GPS and wireless WAN.

GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA are featured, ensuring a comprehensive level of enterprise connectivity and functionality, while the device also includes a 13.56Mhz RFID feature.

The device has a high capacity battery (3,300mAh) making it easily able to handle a busy work shift without re-charging.
